The goal is to provide participants with a life changing experience.
This phrase captures the essence of combining tourism (safari) with sustainable and community-driven development efforts. It highlights the integration of exploring Africa’s natural beauty while contributing to the well-being and development of local communities
THCDI Expedition focuses on entrepreneurs and executives who dream of learning how to give back to society after (or during) a successful career. The program aims at targeting the donations of the participants to specific transformational projects, so they can see the positive impact that they have enabled.
In an 8 day immersion in rural Tanzania, the participants will have close contact with the work that THCDI is executing, joining meetings with midwives, entrepreneurs, savings groups, teachers, parents and local leaders. They will be exposed to the local culture and learn how to drive poverty elimination effectively. They will learn how important it is to listen to the community before starting a project. Also THCDI executives will share the strategies and techniques to run an NGO successfully with the goal of empowering the local leaders and the community to sustain the progress made. In addition to this, THCDI will suggest partners for an optional tourist experience in Tanzania on a safari or climbing Kilimanjaro. The planned dates for expedition are July 12-19 every year.
To be eligible to join a THCDI Expedition, you must make a donation of $5,000 USD or more to THCDI
THCDI will handle all logistics of the expedition. We expect an investment of up to $1,500 USD to cover all trip costs in Tanzania (lodging, transportation, and food included). Additionally, the participants will be responsible for purchasing the international air ticket to Kilimanjaro International Airport (around $1,200 USD) and, if there is interest, the tourist package (e.g., a 3-day Safari estimate is around $1,500 USD).
Participants also must commit to do all recommended vaccinations, insurance, medical checklist, and visa that we provide.
